    Biography

    Professor Hutter has been a faculty member at IIT since 1996, teaching courses at Stuart and the College of Engineering in the areas of industrial hygiene, safety, and OSHA compliance. He is also the President of Meridian Engineering & Technology Inc., a consulting firm providing services in various aspects of industrial hygiene and mechanical, environmental, and safety engineering for such organizations as Ford Motor Company, the Illinois EPA, and the Clark Equipment Company. His recent publications include articles in the Occupational Health and Safety Journal, the Journal of Soil Contamination, and the Water Environment and Technology Journal. Dr. Hutter is a recent recipient of the Cameron Award of the National Safety Council and has received IIT's Alva Todd Award for Teaching Excellence.

    Recently, Dr. Hutter presented seminars on Industrial Health and Safety at the Monterey Technology University in both Monterey and Chihuahua Mexico as part of the IIT educational exchange program.

    Dr Hutter is a cited OSHA standards reviewer, sponsored by the National Safety Council in the areas of Machine Safeguarding, Confined Space Entry, Woodworking Equipment Safety, and Lockout procedures under OSHA Criteria. He also is on the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association International safety committee, involved with equipment and workplace safety.

    In the Fall of 2007, the book, "Carbon Monoxide Toxicity" (CRC) will be released, containing a chapter on safety written by Dr. Hutter.
