Notable Quote
“I have been living in upstate New York for more than 5 years. Frankly speaking, I like cold weather which cools down my brain naturally. Especially, when it is cold, I prefer a lot of snow.
Chicago is such an ideal place to live and work.”

An essential part of education is learning. I am still working on my first project started several years ago when I was a first-year PhD student. Often times, we do not have an immediate solution to our problems. But the most important thing is we learn to think creatively and master necessary skills so that we can prepare ourselves for upcoming challenges.
What excites me about Stuart
Stuart is really a wonderful place to pursue my career in terms of both teaching and research. The strength of Stuart is to provide students strong quantitative skills and a deep understanding of institutional settings in response to the increasingly sophisticated finance areas. Students from all backgrounds are committed to learn the emerging concepts, practices and techniques in the finance industry through rigorous training.
My Teaching Philosophy
I have always admired teachers because they play an invaluable role. They helped me to expand my knowledge boundary. Without any doubt, learning is the main purpose of education, so that is also the goal of every student and teacher. Students benefit by the teacher’s knowledge and attitude toward life. Therefore, it is our responsibility as educators to ensure that the time that students spend with us is most meaningful to them. I am prepared and committed to my role as an educator, and to help my students learn and grow.
My Teaching/Research Interests
My main research areas are corporate finance, financial institutions and entrepreneurial finance. To be specific, I am exploring how financial institutions affect corporate finance behavior as well as how financial institutions affect both the new business formation process and innovation process. With regard to teaching, I mainly teach statistical analysis in financial markets, an area that offers an integrative and balanced perspective to apply statistical techniques to financial problems.
