Biography
Professor Butler is an environmental systems engineer at Argonne National Laboratory, where he serves as principal investigator of a U.S. EPA study to develop methodologies to evaluate cumulative risks in the Chicago metropolitan area. He also serves as the health risk assessment lead on a project at the Yuma Proving Ground for the U.S. Army's Installation Restoration Program, and manages Web sites for the U.S. Department of Energy and the Society for Risk Analysis. Previously, Dr. Butler was Assistant Director of the Division of Science and Research for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and Energy. His research includes the development of approaches for assessing health risks from multi-pathway chemical exposures and evaluating cumulative risks from multiple exposure sources. He was a recipient of a National Research Service Award from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and has served as peer reviewer for a number of EPA reports.
