Biography
Professor Franek (Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with an environmental specialty) is an engineering supervisor with the Cook County Environmental Control Department. Dr. Franek has 28 years of experience in source testing, industrial compliance, inventory inspections permitting, and compliance hearings. He supervises engineers who conduct inspections of industrial facilities for compliance with Cook County and Illinois EPA regulations. He has also served as an instructor in more than 100 short training courses throughout North America and has served on the Board of the Lake Michigan Section of the Air and Waste Management Association. He has co-authored several publications, including the air pollution training manual Sources and Control of Volatile Organic Compounds and a recent paper on receptor modeling of air pollution in Chicago and Mexico City.
