- Student Portal Access and Email Account
New IIT students receive a unique identifier (UID) that is also your IIT email username and login for IIT's networking and computing services. Your university-designated student email account will be the official means of communication between you and the university, and (for U.S. students only) will be used to notify you of your financial aid award if you apply for federal financial aid.
You will receive instructions via email for locating your UID and logging in to the myIIT student portal within five days after you are notified of admission. If you have trouble logging in after receiving those instructions, please contact the Office of Technology Services support desk at 312.567.3375 or supportdesk@iit.edu.
International students: Your UID, email account, and student portal access will be activated only after the Office of Graduate and Professional Enrollment has received and processed your required financial support documents. -

Registration for classes takes place during orientation. You will have time during orientation to meet with your assigned academic advisor (whose name can be found at the bottom of your official admission letter), but you are welcome to meet with him/her sooner if you wish.
Once you are approved for registration, your advisor will provide the necessary log-in information and instruct you how to register for classes.
International students: You will be permitted to register only after you arrive at IIT Stuart and check in with the International Center on IIT's Main Campus. - Tuition Payments
Information about current graduate tuition and fees is available here. Tuition is due on the first day of classes each term. Graduate scholarships are awarded to a limited number of highly qualified, full-time students at the time of admission. Scholarship awards are based on merit, and every applicant is automatically considered upon submission of a complete application packet. No additional paperwork is required. If you receive a scholarship, you will be notified of the award in your official admission letter. U.S. students may also be eligible for federal student loans.

- Financial Support Documents
If you did not submit your financial support documents prior to admission, please submit them as soon as possible. We can create your I-20 only after your valid documents have been received and approved by the Office of Graduate and Professional Enrollment. Please allow at least two weeks from the date we receive your documents for processing. Read complete financial support document submission instructions. - Apply for a Visa and Pay the SEVIS Fee
On the day that we mail your I-20, we will send you an email that provides your SEVIS number and tracking number. Use your SEVIS number to secure your visa appointment as early as possible.
Current visa wait time information is available on the U.S. Department of State website. The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requires a one-time SEVIS fee for all F-1 and J-1 visa applicants. For detailed payment instructions and answers to frequently asked questions, visit the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement website. - International Center Check-In
All international students must check in at the IIT International Center within two business days of their arrival in Chicago. The International Center is located on IIT's Main Campus, which is a short distance from the IIT Stuart Downtown Campus. Main Campus is easily accessible by shuttle bus from IIT Stuart.
Please bring your I-20/DS-2019 form, I-94 card, and passport with you to be processed by staff from the International Center. - Late Arrival
International students must arrive on campus no later than the start date listed on their I-20. Only under special circumstances (difficulties in obtaining a visa, unavailability of plane tickets, or family emergency) may students be allowed to arrive after this date. In such cases, students must request permission for late arrival and obtain an approval letter.
If your late arrival is due to visa delay or denial, please use the Intent to Enroll form to notify us of your situation and request an approval letter. If your delay is not related to visa delay or denial, please request approval for late arrival by contacting Deborah Gibson, Director of Graduate and Professional Admission, at gibsond@iit.edu. Your emailed request, with subject line "Late Arrival Request," must include your full name, IIT applicant ID number, and the reason for your delayed arrival.
