Center for the Management of Medical Technology
CMMT and INET collaboration
CMMT(Center for the Management of Medical Technologies) under the direction of Professors Elie Geisler and Nilmini Wickramasinghe are very pleased to be able to collaborate and co-operate with INET in refining and validating the Wi-INET mobile healthcare implementation framework. It is the vision of both CMMT and INET that this framework will become the industry standard for wireless initiatives within healthcare and maybe even wireless initiatives in general. For this to come about it is now necessary to test the framework with key data points in different scenarios. This will be achieved through the collaboration with INET and its projects. We at CMMT are very excited about this opportunity and on going, longitudinal research prospect because it represents a rare and unique opportunity of combining strengths of industry and academe to develop something new and ground breaking that has tremendous potential. One of the goals of CMMT is to conduct meaningful and substantive research that has benefits to healthcare delivery and practice. We are confident that this collaboration with INET will serve to realize this goal.
Objectives:
-
to validate and test the Wi-INET model developed by Nilmini Wickramasinghe and Steve Goldberg on actual case data
-
to make the Wi-INET model the industry standard for wireless initiatives within healthcare
-
to provide rigor and develop metrics of success to wireless initiatives in healthcare
Scientific Merit:
-
to develop a body of literature that demonstrates the success criteria for wireless initiatives within healthcare
-
to develop metrics to assess successful wireless initiatives in healthcare
-
to transform the Wi-INET model for mobile healthcare delivery into a recognized industry standard through external validation
Broader Goals:
-
to develop unique collaborations between INET, CMMT and industry partners for the betterment of healthcare delivery
-
to develop unique collaborations between INET CMMT and industry partners to support superior and rigorous research in the area of wireless initiatives for healthcare
Participants and their roles:
- Research and academic rigor will be provided by CMMT under the direction of Professors Elie Geisler and Nilmini Wickramasinghe
- INET under the direction of Steve Goldberg will provide the large field data resource using the INET Delivery Practice.
- The industry partners will provide actual case studies that can serve to validate their implementation and the strengths of the model.
Methodology:
The methodology adopted for this initiative is that of multiple case study analysis. Such an approach is most beneficial when testing and validating new initiatives that have the potential to benefit practice. To ensure the highest level of rigor multiple case sites will be examined and evaluated using a structured protocol.
