The Academy for Future Leaders in Science and Technology

IIT’s Center for Strategic Competitiveness is excited to announce The Academy for Future Leaders in Science and Technology, a summer-long science and technology education and internship experience for Chicago-area high school students that emphasizes the emerging field of Environmental Science and Management, career development, and opportunities in higher education.

The Academy endeavors to help students from under-served populations, including women and minorities, build a foundation for lifelong achievement through mentoring support, increased access to inspiring educational experiences, and a developed awareness of “real world” opportunities in science and technology.

What Makes the Academy Unique?

- Courses will be taught on the world-renowned IIT university campus, exposing students to the richness, diversity, and excitement of our college environment.

- Experts in science, technology, and environmental science and management will lead instruction and course development.

- Each student will be provided with a paid professional internship in a Chicago-area business, providing opportunities for hands-on learning and insight into careers in environmental science and management.

- Students will be provided with a personal laptop computer and instructional software at the end of the program to serve their educational needs through postsecondary education.
