George P. Nassos, Director

Professor Nassos has worked for over 30 years in the chemical and environmental services industries. Recently, he worked for Waste Management and its subsidiaries on various projects including the production of solid fuel from renewable resources (such as non-recyclable fibers and plastic film), which was used as a coal substitute; development of an efficient system for on-site cleaning of tank cars for GATX; and development of a system of paint sludge removal from a Saturn assembly plant.

In addition to his role as director of the M.S. in Environmental Management & Sustainability Program at IIT Stuart School of Business, Dr. Nassos conducts research on wind energy from small turbines. Dr. Nassos also serves on the Board of Advisors of American Quality Schools -- a chartered school management company, the Board of Directors of the Lake Michigan States Section of the A&WMA, and a member of the Energy, Environment and Economics subcommittee of the Archdiocesan Advisory Committee for Science and Technology, an advisory committee to the Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Church of America.
