IIT Stuart’s Master of Science in Environmental Management and Sustainability will prepare you to be a uniquely trained management professional who understands the complex dimensions of environmental issues today. It is one of only a handful of such programs in the United States—and the only one in the Chicago area. 

As a graduate of the program, you will be equipped with the knowledge and skills you need to:

• Manage in an era of energy, water, and climate change

• Plan, manage, and communicate environmental control and waste-reduction strategies

• Evaluate competing technical, economic, legal, and regulatory interests

• Facilitate and monitor compliance with air and water pollution, and solid and hazardous waste disposal regulations at the state and federal levels

• Assess and optimize the capital and human resource investments and operational practices needed for such compliance

• Apply the new concepts of “industrial ecology,” “design for environment,” and the energy-environment-economics (E3) paradigm

• Understand how corporate governance and business strategy change in response to environmental constraints and the public’s endorsement of green products and services and sustainable environment
