    Description
    The PhD concentration in Operations emphasizes application of the techniques of management science to the area of operations.

    Today’s managers must realize the value of operations in any organization in order to succeed. At IIT Stuart, operations management is taught as the design and implementation of systems that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of organizations. Candidates in the program learn to understand how to effectively optimize resources (people, technology, finance, and information) for a competitive advantage.

    IIT Stuart’s faculty and students are conducting research in a variety of areas:

    • Design of quality systems
    • Forecasting
    • Materials management
    • Scheduling
    • Information systems
    • Manufacturing strategy
    • Strategic management of manufacturing firms
    • Optimization
