Notable Quote
I have observed that management decisions often have a trajectory that crosses organizational and national boundaries and that decision makers – whether of the public or private sector – derive extraordinary benefit from transdisciplinary and rigorous problem solving.  They have a global mindset and are mindful of the public good.

Notable Vignette
Some of my fondest memories took place in the educational environment.  I look with great affection on those times when I worked with teams of classmates toward solutions of complex problems.  I respect and admire the teachers who inspired my learning or my career path.  I hope to create the same extraordinary experience for my students.

What excites me about Stuart
While I was living or working in various Latin America countries and in Spain, I pursued educational opportunities to fulfill my pursuit of intellectual and professional aims centered on the practice and eventually the teaching of global management.  Then I found all in one place – IIT and Stuart – a place that was compatible with so many of my abiding interests for global diversity, practitioner-scholarship, and strategic competitiveness.

My Teaching Philosophy
I believe that each individual brings to the classroom the capability to participate in the creation of knowledge that could be of benefit to others. My goal is to create a process of learning that draws on the experiences, backgrounds, and education of students, while integrating theoretical knowledge, and real life cases.  I seek to create an environment of engaged participation.  And I strive to make the learning process rigorous yet enjoyable.  Learning, I believe can be extremely inspirational, enjoyable, and life giving.

My Teaching/Research Interests
Global leadership and strategy have been common themes of my teaching and research.  I explore how managers from public, private and nonprofit organizations – with local or global aspirations - collaborate and compete strategically in an increasingly global environment.

Overall, I came away from my prior work and study convinced that concepts and theory can inspire the practice of management and vice versa, and that research can and should be both rigorous and relevant to the real world.
