Professional Development at Your Fingertips at the IIT Stuart School of Business!
The IIT Stuart School of Business is defined to a great extent by the success of its diverse and extremely capable graduate business students. Students enroll in programs at IIT Stuart to become strategically competitive in the job market. We in turn, are constantly at work, developing new programs and initiatives to help our students distinguish themselves and starting in fall 2009, we will be introducing a unique program that will provide you with that and more.
In keeping with its vision of being strategically competitive, IIT Stuart takes professional development very seriously. Some of you may have had the material experience of working in the USA while others have not. For those of you who have not worked in the USA, we believe that the best way to learn about American professional culture and norms is to experience first hand.
If you have had work experience in the US but would like to participate in this program, you may be permitted to do so.
In order to be strategically competitive in the job market, it is important to be able to differentiate yourself from other candidates and being familiar with the environment of a professional organization is a great way to start your journey of professional development.
Academic Service Learning
We are proud to offer you the unique opportunity to participate in a professional development program that we call Academic Service Learning. You will get to participate every week in the activities of real professional organization and come together with other students once a week in a classroom setting, to share your experiences and learn how to be a competitive candidate when you seek out an opportunity in the job market, particularly here in America. There is no additional cost to you for this program. If you have the desire to succeed professionally and become a strategically competitive candidate, that's all you need to get started.
Participation in the academic service learning program for all full time students, as described above, entering in Fall 2009 is mandatory. It is a part of your degree requirements for graduation because it offers you a tremendous advantage that we do not want you to miss out on. This is an element of your program of study that will give you a truly unique experience to share with others, particularly a potential employer and thereby give you a platform to be strategically competitive.
